About our school

At Bowral Public School, we believe that primary school is a time when precious childhood memories are made. We are passionately dedicated to nurturing a sense of wonder, curiosity and a love of learning in every child. Our highly trained and caring teachers ensure that every child is known, valued and cared for. We understand that a sense of wellbeing underpins a child’s potential to achieve academic success, and wellbeing is at the heart of our inclusive and nurturing educational program. We take a positive approach to equipping children with the social and emotional skills they will need to be the happy and resilient citizens and leaders of the future.

Established in 1867 in the heart of beautiful Bowral, Bowral Public School prides itself on offering the very best educational experience for our children. Our talented teachers bring their professional expertise to developing the most up to date, quality programs in literacy and numeracy, guiding their students in setting goals, challenging themselves and aiming high. We are equipped with state of the art technology, with interactive whiteboards and computers in every classroom, as well as a wonderful library equipped with a range of technology and books. Our many specialist programs foster individual abilities and interests. We offer programs and talent pathways in public speaking, debating, singing, music, drama, science and engineering, and a wide range of sports. Our teachers promote a culture of high participation and our students regularly participate at state level competitions and performances.

Our wide student leadership program puts a strong emphasis on student voice and our active School Representative Council nurtures leadership from Year 2 to Year 6. Our Playground PALs and our class buddy programs promote friendships and student mentoring across the whole school, from Kindergarten to Year 6. Our playgrounds are very well resourced, with stimulating, fun play spaces to engage and inspire a range of interests.

Parents are our valued partners in education. Teacher-parent partnerships are highly valued and encouraged across the school. There are many opportunities for parents and carers to participate in school programs and events. Our vibrant, energetic and committed Parents and Citizens Association works hard to support our staff to enable the best opportunities for our students. Our presence within our wider local community is strong, and we participate in important community events such as the Anzac Day march, Tulip Time performances, Carols at Bradman, and BDAS Art Gallery exhibitions.

Bowral Public School is a happy, friendly and welcoming community with a strong vision to provide the very best education for our children.
